WHAT IS KIDZ PRAISE NIGHT?
A WONDERFUL worship event led by individual or small groups of second through fifth graders! (Preschool through first grade choirs will also be part of Kidz Praise Night. Second through fifth grade choirs will not be presenting together, as they are concentrating on their musical.)
IS EVERY CHILD REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE?
No. Kidz Praise Night is not a requirement, only an opportunity for any second through fifth grader who wants to present a special piece for the evening.
WHAT DO KIDS PRESENT?
Children may participate in many ways: they may sing, play a musical instrument, create artwork, recite Scripture or poetry, etc. Please keep in mind that the goal is not performance or “talent show,” but leadership in worship. The piece needs to bring praise to God in a specific way.
Due to time constraints, we would like to see pieces limited to 3 minutes or less. In helping your child select a piece, please consider the length, as well as any accompaniment that may be needed. The Kidz Praise Night committee may help your child shorten a piece if needed. If your child is interested but would like to find a group to participate with, please let us know. There are usually others that are feeling the same way! We have a variety of resources, as well, if there is a particular song you’re looking for, and we’d love to help you find what you need!
WHEN DO KIDS PREPARE?
Practice is done outside of choir time. They do not have to “audition”, although they will be asked to present their piece before teachers and we will be careful to make sure that it is appropriate for a worship service, that it will bring praise to God, and that it’s not already being done by another student.
DATES TO REMEMBER
Deadline for turning in KPN Form: Wednesday, January 25
First Rehearsal, Adult Choir Room Saturday, January 28, 9-11 am
At this practice, the children should be able to show their teachers what they plan to do. It does not need to be perfect! Our goals for this practice are to understand the nature of their piece and to offer any suggestions that might be helpful. Your child will be assigned a time to come.
Second Rehearsal Sunday, February 26, 2-4 pm
This rehearsal will be in the adult choir room or worship center. This is the Sunday before the program and they do need to be polished by this time.
Kidz Praise Night Wednesday, February 29, 6:15 pm
Participants will need to arrive in the worship center at 5:15 p.m. for a final run-through and to be ready for the service to begin at 6:15 p.m.
We are excited about the opportunity our children have been given to lead in worship. We ask that you and your child prayerfully consider how he/she would like to participate. We have an awesome God and He is worthy of our praise. What better way for our children to express that truth than through their own praises!
