HYMN-N-M (First through Fifth Grade)
Our first through fifth grade choirs focus on six hymns through the year. They learn the hymn through singing together in choir and listening to the songs at home. Choirs also supplement learning with activity sheets, games, and instruments. After the children have had approximately 3 - 4 weeks to learn the hymn and complete any activity sheets, they will sing the hymn to one of their choir teachers. They may sing the hymn alone or with friends (this makes it easier for most children). Once these requirements have been met they are given a small tube of mini M&M’s as a reward. Any of these requirements may be made up at any time during the year if the child needs to complete a hymn.
At the end of the choir year, we have an awards ceremony for the children that have completed the Hymn-n-m Program and learned ALL SIX hymns. We feel the Hymn-n-m Program is an effective way of teaching children the great hymns of our faith which explain, in musical detail, the doctrines of our faith.
